Automatic Voltage Control relay (AVR) to TAPCON® 230

It is common to update protection devices, but often the Automatic Voltage Control relay (AVR) is overlooked. A recent job completed by the team at Reinhausen Thailand successfully replaced the older analog AVR brand installed in the early 1980s with a new TAPCON® 230 Basic.

After careful planning, all exchange work and commissioning could be completed with the transformer online. While this job was very much a one-to-one replacement in terms of function, we also have the option to upgrade the AVR functions to Parallel control or SCADA communication, including IEC 61850 support during an exchange.
